Okay, maybe they’re not technically together anymore. However, they were a super awesome band that I adored in the late 90s/early 2000s, so I will now subject you to them.
Originally called Riverfenix, the band was eventually threatened with legal action by the estate of the deceased actor River Phoenix, ultimately causing them to change their name to Fenix TX. They caught a lot of heat early on for being what many critics described as a “Blink 182 ripoff band”. Coincidentally, Blink 182 bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus actually managed Fenix TX for a period of time. It was actually at a Riverfenix show at the Key Club in West Hollywood where I first met Mr. Hoppus.
In any event, they made some really great pop/punk music. If you’re not into that genre, it’s not likely Fenix TX is going to be the band to change your mind. But if you like bands like Blink, Weezer, Green Day, etc, and never got a chance to check out Fenix TX, you’re in for a treat!
Here is their video for the 2nd single of their debut self-titled album. The song is called “All My Fault”, and the video just so happens to feature Mark Hoppus. Imagine that!
